About this deal

Well it’s July tomorrow. See if we get announcement on the next box set some time before the twenty third, my big sixty! That would be nice. The Five Doctors, though often said to be a part of season 20, was therefore not a part of season 20 in any production or broadcast sense. Indeed, it's doubtful that any contemporary viewer thought of it as a part of the season, since it came almost eight months after the closing scene of The King's Demons. Instead, it had much greater production and broadcast proximity to season 21, and is often considered a standalone special. The episode was also considerably longer than typical episodes of the time, and was introduced during the Children in Need telethon by the host, Terry Wogan.

Distribution rights are split between two companies - Pandastorm Pictures (distributing stories featuring the Fourth through Eighth Doctors) and Polyband Media (distributing stories featuring the First through Third Doctors, as well as all modern-era stories).Article with mail online has not seen pics of the 60th. So much of me wants to look at it but more of me wants more of a surprise when the episodes air Keep posting in a respectful and at times humorous manner. And keep enjoying the Doctor who you like.

Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 20 includes seven stories from 1983; Arc of Infinity, Snakedance, Mawdryn Undead, Terminus, Enlightenment, The King’s Demons and The Five Doctors.

Coming Soon to Blu-ray: Doctor Who The Collection — Season 20

They could announce the next set in September for November 20th? They may make it a bigger deal if it’s released closer to the 23rd November. Maybe a big relaunch, good way to do it focusing around that month. Then again is that too much in a short amount of time? 60th specials, collection set, 60th specials blu ray release, maybe an annimation? For the 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition released the following year, The Day of the Doctor was presented in 2D only. However, BBC Worldwide kept the slowed down frame rate that had been necessary for the 3D release, resulting in the story being presented at 1080p24. Following complaints from buyers, a disc replacement programme was launched - allowing the disc containing the 'faulty' master to be exchanged for one that had been mastered at 1080i50. The Day of the Doctor was shot natively in 3D, with both cameras shooting at 25p. When broadcast in 3D on UK television, this was presented at 25p in side-by-side format (25 frames per eye, with half horizontal resolution). For cinema release, this was converted to 24p (24 frames per eye) using the same slowdown method used for US releases. This nine-disc box set also includes hours of special features previously released on DVD including documentaries, featurettes, audio commentaries, The Five Doctors Special Edition and more.

Anniversary Collector's Edition - The Name of the Doctor / The Day of the Doctor / The Time of the Doctor / An Adventure in Space and Time (4 disc) These limited sets are somewhat of an investment, so I personally would rather know if there is a production schedule issue, rather than not know at all what’s going on, particularly on the 60th Anniversary year of Doctor Who. In addition to the substantial features which had already been released on DVD, there is some new material. Perhaps the highlight is ‘ Keeping up with the Joneses‘ which sees Katy Manning and Stewart Bevan return to the village of Deri in South Wales where ‘ The Green Death‘ was filmed in 1973. It is a beautiful film which showcases the impact that filming Doctor Who had on the little mining village. There is also lots of poignancy with Katy and Stewart reconnecting and the transformation seen since the mine closed. For early BD releases, 2|entertain chose to produce a single master for all markets. They decided to convert the 1080i50 broadcast masters to 1080i60, to ensure the discs were compatible in both regions. No James. That was a pointless comment from you. I was just saying maybe they were in the process of securing one so they were willing to wait an extra month or so. Maybe or maybe not? Just an idea

I also suggested a documentary series taking a retrospective look at the best guest performances in Doctor Who, e.g. Julian Glover, Bernard Kay, John Abineri etc.I think because season 9 was released just over three months after 2, we all thought we would be getting another box set around June. It hasn’t worked out like that. I hope we will get another this year after hopefully the one about to be announced. Maybe if the BBC announce that due to amount of work needed on these sets, they are going to release two sets a year after this year. Would we all be happy at that? Certainly when you consider the mount of work that will be needed on season 1and 6 , the two remaining sixties seasons with most of their original episodes, plus the work needed on another of my favorite seasons. 7 ,it would make sense. Plus it gives more to do something about season 3. Here’s hoping that this time we do get announcement today. Another new feature filled with poignant moments is ‘ Looking for Lennie‘. Host Toby Hadoke ventures out to uncover more details of Lennie Mayne who directed ‘ The Three Doctors‘ for Season 10. From revealing the details of his tragic demise, Hadoke uncovers a lot of previously unknown information. The conclusion is hugely emotional and it feels only right that this much loved man has received the celebration that his life richly deserved. In some cases, visual effects have been improved - improved exterior shots of the Pharos Project were used to replace models in some instances, including brand-new location shots filmed using drones. As with such improvements on the DVD range, these changes are optional and can be enabled or disabled at will. Serials have also been remixed in 5.1 surround where possible.
