About this deal

Love the hair, so happy I took the gamble. Just had my hair done at HEADS YOU WIN and can’t explain how great the experience is every time. I don’t even mind doing the hour’s journey to come to this place. Sally, my stylist, has come up trumps again with her creativity and skills. Also, such an enjoyable experience with great friendly staff. “ The story is one of hope, albeit tempered by realism. It is largely apolitical, although it pointedly rejects nationalism as both versions of Alexander strive to build a world that emphasizes our commonality rather than our differences, a world based on principles of equality and cooperation. In the atmosphere of America First and Brexit, any story that reminds us of the value immigrants bring to a nation and of the evils of nationalism is easy to recommend, particularly when it is executed with the storytelling skill for which Archer is known. I enjoyed the storyline of each of the lead characters in this book; it was a bit confusing for me but I trusted that Archer had it sharp in his head. He’s an excellent author and I’ve enjoyed his novels for many years, Kane and Abel being my first great read. But this one kept me on my toes after the coin toss. The plot: one is based on heads, one is based on tails. Sasha and Alex each lead vastly different lives in England and America. Their stories of struggle, their strong mother Elena, their will to succeed and become the voice for those they most relate to is a common thread. Their lives are colorful; it’s enjoyable watching each go through his own personal struggles.

I really liked this book, but I had to take a star away because I am just confused about the ending. Hardly surprising,” said Konstantin. “Otherwise he’d have no chance of joining the KGB, which is the natural habitat for that particular piece of pond life.” Never,” said Alexander. “In any case, he’d know if I wasn’t trying, and leather me.” He pulled open the drawer below the kitchen table and took out an old wooden board and a box containing a set of chess pieces, one of which was missing, so each night a plastic salt cellar had to substitute for a bishop. Alexander Karpenko HAS TO escape Russia...and he does, with help of a cargo boat and his uncle. Interestingly enough, he and his mother decide where to go and which boat to take...with a flip of the coin! How often have we decided things in this manner? Heads, New York. Tails, London. I read very few political thrillers, but for Archer I make an exception. From the beginning one is aware that they are in the hands of a author who has perfected his craft, has a firm grasp of his characters and the plot. His prose is written with clarity, his storyline flows seamlessly. What an unusual but perceptive, history in the making, storyline this turned out to be. As you well know, Vladimir, only party members live on the first three floors. But I’m sure that once you’ve joined the KGB, you’ll come down in the world.”

FRAMESI COLOR LOVER will love your haircolor as long as you do! Jeffery Archer, you’re an astute writer. In my younger years, I could keep up with your logic. You made me work for this one. I loved every line of it See you in the morning,” said Vladimir, ignoring his friend’s jibe as he began to climb the remaining four flights.Heads You Win is a typical story by Jeffrey Archer, a journey of a man who rises from nothing. He goes to war, studies hard, builds a business, even enters politics. This time it's a Russian immigrant who escaped to the West. As for the ending, well, I cannot spoil it for you because I am not sure what happened; I cannot tell you who lives and who dies although the final line reveals the identity of one character who has been alluded to throughout. It might be churlishness on my part, but I just did not see that coming. Perhaps Archer was being just a little more profound in trying to suggest we cannot escape our fate, that wherever the path of life takes us, the ultimate destination is pre-ordained – not, it has to be said, an original concept. As they continued walking, Alexander realized they were both avoiding the one subject that was never far from their minds. Stories about immigrants are particularly important in a time when so many American nationalists seem to have forgotten that they are only Americans because their ancestors were once welcomed as immigrants. Too many Americans also forget the role that immigrants have played in fighting the nation’s wars. Jeffrey Archer provides a powerful reminder of those facts in Heads You Win, a unique novel that explores the two paths a Russian refugee’s life might have followed, depending on whether he boarded a ship bound for England or the United States. Also, if you're going to explore two lives, is it two much to ask to NOT hear basically the same story twice? I mean. Whenever one thing happened to Alex, it would happen to Sasha a chapter or two later. Whether it was getting arrested, or getting married, or going into politics. One political campaign is boring enough for me, but two? Ugh… It was also just all going way too smoothly for these two (until the end), and I never felt invested in their lives. Two stories about a young boy who escaped from Russia could've been so interesting, exploring life in a new country as a refugee, but these two were basically handed everything on a silver platter if you ask me.
