The game is designed for ages 7+, but you can include younger kids by allowing hints from older players. If a child has sensory issues and dislikes the feel of the headband on his head, simply prop up the card on the table in front of him. The object of the game is to guess what the word or phrase is on each card. If you are using it to introduce the lesson’s topic, use words or phrases that relate to the topic. You can also make a simple construction paper headband like we all did in preschool or kindergarten to be Indians at Thanksgiving. The ultimate party game. Participants should have three chips each as well to start with. Players place these chips in the ‘bank’ when they identify a card.You may need to help younger players place the card into the slot on their headband, especially if they are tempted to peek at the card.

While the gameplay for Hedbanz and Heads Up is slightly different, the one thing these forehead games both have in common is clue cards. These are the words that the players have to guess based on the clues provided by the other players who can see them. Playing this game, children can practise deductive reasoning when guessing whether their card is animal, food or household object. It’s easy to learn and fast-paced, so players remain engaged, and it’s good to play either with the whole family or just among kids. With the youngest player starting the game, they will need to ask questions about what is on the card. On your turn, flip over the timer and ask each of the other players a question that will help you identify the picture on your head.

Different versions are available depending on who you are planning on playing with. This varies in topics although the fast-paced gameplay does stay the same. Encourage creative thinking. Having regular conversations about their (and our) emotions helps kids to become more emotionally intelligent– as they learn to recognise and manage their emotions and develop the ability to keep calm in the face of overwhelming emotions (and to act in healthy, socially unacceptable ways in response to them), they begin to feel more confident, competent and capable. Put a scoring badge on your headband for correct guesses an put another card on your headband. Continue asking questions till the timer runs out.
