I didn’t mind the groundhog day trope, but what I did mind that there was no explanation provided about the time travel. This part of the plot felt forgotten by the end. Have I mentioned the cabin yet?? If not, it was a dream of coziness, and told the story of family get-togethers, of roaring fireplaces and game nights. Of baking together and sleeping in bunkbeds. A beloved vacation home that brought all the families together, year in and year out. Melt the butter in a microwave (make sure it's covered as it will splatter) for about 1 minute, until it's hot. Alternatively, you could heat it on the stove. Cirque du Soleil reimagines a Christmas Classic in ‘Twas The Night Before..., a family show perfect for the Holiday season! One of my favorite Christina Lauren books ever, In a Holidaze was the super-sweet, friends-to-lovers Christmastime romance that my heart and mind needed right now. I adored it, and stayed up until 5 am to finish.

Let's start by saying that one of my favorite movies is Groundhog day. (Bill Murray dying many times until becoming a selfless version of himself is too much fun to forget). It's a movie I can rewatch over and over and still enjoy. I didn’t read the blurb so I didn’t know that In A Holidaze was loosely based on it. Feeling a little bah humbug? Then I suggest you give Christina Lauren’s holiday romantic comedy, In a Holidaze, a try. I devoured this book. 🤗 I’m not sure if it’s due to my last few books being let downs or what… 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I really needed this cute, flirty, hot, romantic, ground-hog-day, Christmas story read right now. 😍 Caution: this is rated R for adult (steamy good) content. 👌👍😘I loved Maelyn Jones, aka Mae, right away. She was resilient, caring, and followed her heart. It was so easy to feel everything right along with her. So when life got crazy, I more than understood why she lost it. Seriously, what in the world was going on?! How many times would she have to repeat certain moments? And while I felt her anguish and suffering, I couldn’t help but laugh throughout this whole ordeal. They were so many hilarious moments! I want to capture this moment. I want to put it in a snow globe and be able to see it just like this, forever. Have made the hollandaise several times ….: so far safe proof ….. very simple and great results…… everyone is impressed !!! Every year, Mae and her family, along with close family friends, spend a week at a cabin in Salt Lake City, Utah. There’s sledding, scavenger hunts, building snow creatures, and Christmas cheer. This year, Mae makes a bad decision while under the influence of eggnog...she makes out with her friend, Theo, but she is really in love with his older brother, Andrew.

She also has an opportunity to tell her long-time family friend, Andrew, how she really feels about him.

The book gave me this cozy feel of everything will be perfect one day. It will all work out, you just have to wish for it. I read this story in just two, sixty minute sessions. I literally could not put it down. The characters, their relationships, the family dynamics, the setting, our leading lady, Maelyn, and her years-long love interest, Andrew...everything about this book was perfection. I was also really confused by how upset Andrew became over things that didn’t even happen in his timeline and when the two weren’t even together as a couple. Honestly, I really could’ve done without this whole unnecessary drama plot point In a Holidaze where Maisie tells Andrew about her time traveling. Their fight just felt like drama for the sake of drama and made Andrew look like a jerk who wasn’t any better than his brother. I wished instead that In a Holidaze had just played up the slow-burn and will-they-won’t-they because the novel is truly at its most fun when Andrew and Maisie are flirting. I laughed at a lot of their banter and really loved their nerdy jokes. Though I didn’t really get that the two were actually nerdy beyond these few jokes, and would’ve loved to see more of that demonstrated. I also would have liked to learn more about their lives beyond the yearly visits in the cabin besides what is glimpsed in a single conversation about their jobs. Combine the egg yolks, lemon juice, dijon, salt and cayenne pepper into a high powered blender and blend for 5 seconds. One other teeny tiny, snowflake-sized complaint – the novel has a lot of characters. One entire family too many, in my opinion. It’s not easy to keep straight who is who, and all the names constantly felt jumbled in my mind.I used to be SO excited when a Christina Lauren book was released. Sadly, I\’ve been disappointed with their last 4 or 5 novels. They have moved away from the Filthy and the Beautiful, I get it, but those books were compelling + well written, and yes – super sexy. This book felt messy like they were under a deadline to get something out because they owe one to the publisher. Tepid characters, strange plot, just an overall \”meh\”.

Leave it to Christina Lauren to come up with a lovely, sweet, romantic Christmas Story that is somewhat fresh and new in “In a Holidaze.” While there were a few parts of this novel that I think were extraneous, all in all, I truly enjoyed this story and loved the characters of Benny, Mae and Andrew. If you’re looking for a magical read that will be sure to make you smile, this is it!
