Additional Accessories: Putting the fiberglass gasket on between the hopper and the ash bin did present a little bit of a challenge.

We were made aware of the Masterbuilt gravity fed by one of our disabled customers, he was saying that it enabled him to cook with charcoal, but have full control of the cook with the phone app. The hopper can hold enough charcoal for 12-15 hours of cooking depending on temperature and conditions. According to Masterbuilt, you should be able to smoke for 12 to 15 hours with a fully filled hopper of charcoal, but we have not yet made that happen. After about eight hours (sometimes nine), we have to fill it again. That’s fine, of course, but something to keep an eye on if you plan to run the smoker all night. So before you go to bed, you fill it up, and you’ll be fine. I’m happy to say the grill can hold very consistent temperatures. The accuracy was average to slightly better depending on whether grilling or smoking. We’ll get into our test results later on in the review. Not sure why these are different. I have a little caution as to how long they will last and how much babysitting they will need.If you love American barbecue and a strong smoky flavour, throw a few chunks of smoke wood in between the coals in the hopper. The smoke then enters the kettle more directly, so you can be sure of a good smoky taste. When it comes to vent dampers, the options are plentiful. But let me share a recommendation based on my personal experience with Masterbuilt 560 water pan mods: The vertical charcoal hopper is designed to hold over 12 hours of briquettes. The hopper will hold about 10lbs of lump, give or take the size of the lump charcoal that you’re using. While assembling a grill, I spend more time inspecting for poor manufacturing or material handling than most, but I didn’t see any with the Gravity 560.

This was partly due to the sometimes difficult to understand instructions. But also because there are many parts that you have to put together. In the end, we build it in an hour and a half. And maybe that’s because we may not be very handy. However, ensure you don’t use more than 1.5 pounds of charcoal if you intend to mix in wood chunks. In short the ‘Gravity Series’ is charcoal BBQing made simple. It’s as convenient as a gas BBQ, it’s as controllable as a gas BBQ, it’s as efficient as a gas BBQ and it’s as clean as a gas BBQ… but it has all the flavour, fun and personality that only charcoal brings to the outdoor cooking experience. That said, I’m a little nervous about the build quality. Especially when you have electronic components, cheaply built grills can turn into a big headache. I like to put every grill I test through some standard tests to see how well it performs in a few different areas. Come up to temp speed testWhen it comes to the seals on the cooking chamber, we find this model to be better than most. Like most smokers, we want the smoke to stay in the chamber as long as possible to get deeper smoke rings and infuse that smokey goodness into our meat.
