I did not enjoy the author’s style of writing at all. It felt extremely stilted to me. The parts of the book in direct speech, flip from one speaker to the another with no indication of who is saying what and the actual dialogue felt like it had been written by someone with a lot less talent and experience than Ms La Plante! Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know! Lynda La Plante has just proved once again she is the Queen of thrillers. This complex case was written in her usual style. The story, characters were so well exdplained My thanks to Bonnier Books U.K. Zaffre for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘Pure Evil’ by Lynda La Plante.

This is tense, gripping and completely addictive. I have felt as though I have been watching the events of this one play out. This is realistic and believable, guaranteed to send shivers down the spine of the reader. Her first book went over extremely well, and other famous novels came to follow. One of her best known stories is The Talisman, published in 1987, closely followed by Bella Mafia in 1990. Soon afterward, she began work on Prime Suspect, which starred Helen Mirren. This opened the door for La Plante to win an Edgar-Award from the Mystery-Writers of America for her impressive work on the show. She dipped in and out of screenwriting and acting, best known for her magnificent work on the Prime Suspect televisions series. Lynda has a strong focus on crime and thriller, as she discovered when she wrote her first series for Thames Television, Widows, in 1983. After this turning point in her life, Lynda signed her first book-deal with Pan MacMillan, who helped her publish her very first novel, The Legacy, in 1987.

It’s concerning how they barely mention the fact that it’s riddled with rape or perhaps statutory rape of minors. It only focuses on missing girls and murders. I’m thinking of teaching an Osher adult learning course on Lynda La Plante. Any observations about her work most appreciated. ReplyThis book is a serial killer Thriller, which I really loved and enjoyed thoroughly. It is Book 4 in a series. As Warr digs into Rodney's past, Ridley calls pleading for help, now accused of a murder he insists he didn't commit.
