And the trouble is, if we did well, if we if we only did that for say, three hours a week would handle it. But the way we now live is that for most women, they have constantly circulating elevated levels of adrenaline. It’s constant it’s all the time. So we are our bodies are always getting the message that our life is in danger. And that’s a big part of what I want women to understand. We’re so capable, but we have to learn ways to communicate to our body the truth, which is that we are thankfully relatively safe. For too many women, estrogen is dominant (to progesterone) leading into the menstrual period and this is the typical hormonal imbalance that is the basis of PMS – heavy clotty painful periods, swollen tender breasts, and mood swings that can oscillate from intense irritability to immense sadness, sometimes in the same hour and often for reasons that cannot be identified! This can feel like chaos for a woman… and everyone around her. It is important to realise that the way we eat, drink, move, think, believe and perceive impacts our need to rush. As a scientist and health professional I aim to help people live their lives with more PNS activation because this alone can have the most profound effect on health. We’ve made more progress in the workplace than we have in the home. It is an excellent book that examines how constantly rushing and having a never ending to-do list has a substantial cost to our physical and mental health. This episode will teach you to control your thoughts, lower your stress, and eliminate your anxiety. Dr. Libby will change the way that you look at hormones forever. So where is this stress coming from? The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicates that two-thirds of women with dependent children are in the workplace – whether this be for career aspirations or for financial necessity (or both). Research from the Australian Psychological Society also indicates that regardless of the hours in paid employment, women continue to see themselves as the primary care giver for their children and primarily responsible for household duties. So it would seem that despite the fact that the majority of women with dependent children are working we are continuing to hold on to traditional roles. Our Struggle with Inner Expectation The consequence? Rushing Woman’s Syndrome. Biochemically this is known as Sympathetic Nervous System Dominance… but as a scientist, I didn’t believe anyone would know what that meant.

The Science and Impact of Rushing - Dr Libby

I like to say this biochemical and emotional scenario is common but not normal. It doesn’t have to be this way. What if the symptoms your body gives you, what if the parts of your body that frustrate or sadden you, are simply messengers asking you to eat, drink, move, think, believe or perceive in a new way? It is time to see them as the gifts that they are. These symptoms can be wake up calls for women to make changes in their lives they may not otherwise make, enhancing their health, energy, vitality and greatness in the process. It’s not just the physical health consequences that concern me for women. It’s that they live their lives so out of touch with their beautiful hearts, out of touch with how extraordinary they are and in the cloud of false belief that they aren’t enough.
