I LOVED this!... Magnificent... Such wisdom and tenderness about friendship and love as the years march on. Wonderful Russell T Davies it has been 4 months since i read this book, i cannot in good faith put this review off any longer, and i still do not know if i liked this or not. It was all about the writing style and relationships for me that took the meaning of gaming to a whole new level. The characters felt so real and genuine which came through in the writing and turned a seemingly ordinary plot into something extraordinary. What comes next is a tale of friendship and rivalry, fame and creativity, betrayal and tragedy, perfect worlds and imperfect ones. And, above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love. Zevin's writing is poetic, the plot is entertaining, moving and gripping and the nods to real life video games make it all feel incredibly real Skinny, *Books of the Year*

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow : Gabrielle Zevin Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow : Gabrielle Zevin

When Macbeth soliloquises of “tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow”, he speaks of the relentlessness and futility of life. When Gabrielle Zevin employs the same words, she speaks of the “possibility of infinite rebirth, infinite redemption” offered by video games. In the virtual world, death is not the end and losing is but a chance to try again; there are endless chances, endless restarts. You do not have to be a gamer to see the appeal. This is a great novel. Zevin has the ability to make you care about her creations within paragraphs of meeting them….The book is rich with characters whose intertwined fates power the narrative…We are glad of the privilege of accompanying Sam and Sadie on the adventure of growing up and discovering who they are, and wondering who they might have been.” the writing, narrative, structure, (the gaming), the characters: (major and minor), and their relationships are LOVABLE as can be…. Tomorrowx3 is nothing short of brilliant. The main characters, Sam and Sadie, are morally grey—they are imperfect characters, facing the challenge of growing into adults and defining their friendship. Enough can’t be said about these memorable characters! Woven throughout are meditations on originality, appropriation, the similarities between video games and other forms of art, the liberating possibilities of inhabiting a virtual world, and the ways in which platonic love can be deeper and more rewarding - especially in the context of a creative partnership - than romance. New YorkerAllowing me to absorb the message instead of simply beating me over the head with self-righteousness. In this exhilarating novel by the best-selling author of The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry two friends—often in love, but never lovers—come together as creative partners in the world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. In general, the overall writing was pleasant. Particularly interesting to me was the genuineness of the content concerning game design and production. That being said, I do not consider "gamer" to be a defining term for me. I would always rather read. And my interest in games does not extend beyond the games to the culture surrounding it. He hadn’t seen her in years—until he did—since their childhood in Southern California. Sadie went to MIT

Retailers:

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is an incredible tour de force. to write something as meta as the process of making video games with a lyrism this profound is no easy task. Zevin's descriptions of the process, so technical, transport the reader into an imaginary world so vast that at one point, i saw myself in the game sam and sadie made. additionally, i salute the author's courage to include difficult literary techniques (e.g.: second-person pov) in an already intricate setting. Initially I had trouble getting through parts of this book and even put it aside for a day. Some of the details of designing, coding and playing video games were tedious for me to read. The brilliance of Zevin’s tour de force is that you can come into this book with zero gaming knowledge and be blown away by her insights on the human condition, her prodigious capacity for storytelling, and how she weaves it all together — brilliant and brilliantly.” The truth is, I cried and cheered for these wonderfully written characters, like friends more than fictional souls.
