About this deal

The premise of the story is about a boy named Alex and how he lives in two different homes, because his parents are separated. While these two homes are very different on the surface, in reality and fundamentally, it's not all that different, save the authority figure. Alex is really happy wherever he is, whether he's with his mother or father, and in return, and most importantly, so are his parents. If you qualify, you can only get help with rent on both homes for up to a month. If you've moved within the last 4 weeks Once you own two houses, you have two years to decide which is your principal private residence. A principal private residence is exempt from Capital Gains Tax implications, so this is a significant decision, and most people choose the property which is expected to rise most in value. Married couples can only have one principal private residence. All this has further fuelled a massive spending spree. On the coast, and in scenic areas inland, local people report that buying a home has become impossible. Rural prices over the past year have risen by an astonishing 14%: twice the rate of homes in cities.

Universal Credit: Renting from a private Housing costs and Universal Credit: Renting from a private

This book is about family dynamics. Specifically, it is about a child with divorced parents who has two homes he moves between. Do I need to fit winter tyres to my car now it is getting colder? And what are the differences and benefits to summer tyres and all-season tyres? This book is very clearly written to comfort a young child who is anxious about their parents splitting up. Even more clearly, I am not the target audience. Also I tend to be vaguely unapproving of books for children which are so obviously meant to be about this particular situation you the child are also in. I tend to think the books which comfort a child are the books they choose without some adult walking up with a book they want to read to the child. And probably my reluctance won't go away entirely.

It is possible to cut capital gains bills by living in the second property for a period of time. Alan Ford, client partner at tax advisory group Vantis, says: 'Special rules apply to properties that have been a main residence. The period when it was the main residence is exempt, plus the last 36 months of ownership.' So a period when the home was rented out can be exempted for tax puposes. Once you have two houses, you have two years to make an election regarding which is to be your 'principal private residence' (PPR). This is important since PPRs are exempt from CGT. In general, it is sensible to elect for the property that is expected to rise most in value to be the PPR. A married couple can have only one PPR.

If a house is sold which has been the PPR and was actually lived in at any time, the last three years of ownership are treated as private residence, so if a house has been owned for ten years, lived in for six years and then rented out for four years, only one tenth of the gain will be chargeable. There are a number of other exemptions which apply for periods of non-residence for various reasons. You can sometimes get help with rent at your old home and your new home for up to 4 weeks but only if: So how much of the housing crisis is caused by second homes? Well, it depends which crisis you mean. Let’s start with its most extreme manifestation: homelessness. On one estimate, there are 288,000 households in England that are homeless or in imminent danger of becoming so. So on this measure, we discover something truly obscene: there are roughly twice as many second homes as homeless households. If you get universal credit, you can only get this help if you, your partner or a dependent child gets one of the following benefits:An unmarried couple may each own a home that qualifies as their principal residence but a married couple may only nominate one property and must elect jointly. Two Homes is a children's picture book written by Claire Masurel and illustrated by Kady MacDonald Denton and depicts a boy, Alex, whose parents are separated or divorced and the two homes that he lives in.
