About this deal

At the start of the game, players are in the red room, with a zombie located at each entryway. Turns are simple: first, the active player rolls the zombie die – which adds a zombie into one of the coloured rooms (it’s worth mentioning that the board is double sided, with the ‘Night’ side having easier access to all of the rooms – this is used for two player game sessions).

Zombie Kidz Evolution - Board Game - Family and Kids Guide

Younger folk in the family will love the excitement of opening up these envelopes to see what’s inside and then immediately want to try out the new stuff. Which is doable as each game takes around 15 minutes. After a long pause, Karina indicated that it was safe to continue and the four of them left the safety of the building and stopped to examine a scene they knew all too well: the playground of Mountain Oak Elementary School. In short, the designer and Iello Games took a fun experience and made it even better. Zombie Kidz Evolution boasts higher-quality artwork, pumped-up colors, better quality components, and the best gaming experience I’ve ever had with my kids. My Thoughts and Some (signposted) Minor Spoilers Gamer Network Limited, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, United Kingdom, registered under company number 03882481. If a horde reaches a building, that building is overrun and the zombies build a trampoline. They can use this trampoline to overrun the next building if they move again before you defeat them. The special powers complemented each other quite well, which is great because while using the special powers you’re forced to add two zombies on your turn instead of one. This really changed the math and meant that at the end of your turn you needed to make sure there were at least two zombies available to be placed. Moreover, you can mix and match the rules as you see fit, making the game easier or harder for the heroes. This high level of scalability makes Zombie Teenz Evolution not only very replayable by the same group, but highly suitable to be shared with a wide range of player types. Art and Components

The game also offers a variety of ways to play. One side of the board is for two players, one side is for 3-4 players and changes how you can move about the board. My youngest really enjoys just playing with dad, so it works well. But as my boys got older (currently they’re 10, 8, and 6) their desire to play the original Zombie Kidz diminished. So picture my delight when I started seeing talk of a sequel of sorts, especially one which was billed as the first legacy game for kids! Last Night on Earth's tactical combat, multiple scenarios and hero survival has been replicated many times over the decade-plus since its release (including by some of the games on this list), but what keeps it shelf-worthy is its endearingly self-aware theme that focuses on cheesy fun over brains. Despite its potential complexity, the game is highly customisable with multiple difficulty levels that greatly alter the gameplay and add entirely new mechanics - hence all the rulebooks. If you like the zombie genre but want your tabletop gaming with a bit more meat on its bones, Dawn of the Zeds is the zombie board game for you.Zombie Kidz Evolution is a legacy style board game, based on the original Zombie Kidz by Scorpion Masque. Zombie Kidz Evolution is suggested at Ages 7+ and this review is written assuming you're buying this for your own children or as a gift. As a result, there's going to be some spoilers here, but we'll keep them to a minimum, just in case you're going to be playing this game with them. Hit Z Road: The genre takes a sharp left turn where players bid for the most optimal route while driving cross-country across a zombified USA. The story elements do not influence play as it would in, for example, Pandemic Legacy. Zombie Teenz Evolution is not a linear, narrative game. But the little bits of comic add flavour and context, which is an enjoyable new dimension to the game. Final thoughts Zombie Kidz Evolution is a sequel to the 2013 board game Zombie Kidz, which I must admit was one that flew under the radar for me.

Board gamer parents, especially ones with experience playing games like Pandemic: Legacy or The Rise of Queendale, can make some guesses as to what might be contained in these envelopes, but your kids will likely be surprised and delighted. The player can move their character to an adjacent board space (if a board space contains 3 or more zombies, they cannot move there)

Final Thoughts: Zombie Kidz Evolution Stole My Heart (and Both Kidneys)

Zombie Kidz Evolution is aimed at children, and I wouldn’t recommend playing it with just grownups. Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed playing the majority of rounds with my boys. All three of my boys have played it without me too. The turn phase and objective is simple enough for my six year old to fathom. A minor downside personally is this is a four player game and there is five of us, so we either need to partner up or someone needs to find something else to do. New heroes and powers are introduced to give you more resources, new types of zombies and Event Cards make sure that the stakes are constantly raised. We have played Pandemic Legacy and Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, and those games we followed the rules. This game is simple enough that making it progress faster is just best for us.
