Give LEGO Harry Potter fans a magical build-up to Christmas with the toy-a-day LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar (75981); Behind each of the 24 doors is a different Harry Potter toy to build, play with, and display. Styled like a traditional galleon, the Durmstrang Ship is a fan favourite set last seen in 2005, and one that LEGO Harry Potter fans have been clamouring for a new version. Interestingly, the other side of the table has some Technic holes in them – which suggests that this is only one half of the table, and we might get the other half in the coming few days! Day eleven produced a fireplace which includes two clips. One was occupied yesterday and I am expecting another model that connects with the fireplace today. That said, it looks much better once you load it up with Hedwig, a chocolate frog and some spellbooks!

Unfortunately, unlike Ron, she doesn’t come with any other accessories, which is a bit of a bummer, as it’d be great to incorporate her interests and personality if something like a spellbook or even a printed tile, but nope, you just get a wand (or 4!). I LOVE this illustration of a snow-covered Hogwarts castle. The art style is on point, and reminds me so much of the original book covers, and really sets the scene for the 2021 Harry Potter Advent Calendar. We get a Table with a glass bottle on it. I’m not 100% sure if this is referenced anywhere in the movies, and gave up after spending too much time on Youtube rewatching Goblet of Fire clips.

Day 4 gives us yet another banger – a micro model of the Beauxbatons’ Carriage, and what a beautiful rendition at this scale! The presence in the advent calendar is hopefully a teaser of what’s to come in 2021 – now that we have more of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic students and teachers, we absolutely need a new Igor Karkaroff minifigure! p By the way, thank you so much for sharing your chocolate frog cards from yesterday! It was so fun to read what everyone else got, and I was really glad to see LEGO truly randomise the chocolate frog cards! So good on LEGO for putting this hard-to-find torso in a fairly accessible advent calendar, but it does make the set less special.We start Day 1 of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar with none other than the Boy Who Lived, all dressed up in his best Wizard robes. Christmas trees are even more prevalent than fireplaces across the selection of LEGO Advent Calendars and this rendition looks absolutely fantastic. I love the white colour scheme which is consistent with Christmas trees which appear during the Yule Ball and the shape is marvellous, employing multiple wedge plates to create authentic texture. The same technique appeared on another Christmas tree in 75964 Harry Potter Advent Calendar. Ending on a top is quite meh, and in many ways encapsulates this year’s Harry Potter Advent Calendar.. As the big day gets closer, kids can recreate Hogwarts holiday scenes – including the amazing Yule Ball. Harry has a companion now, albeit one that he actively dislikes, and it’s great to see more of Harry’s life in Privet Drive come together.
