About this deal

On a player’s turn, they take the single, free corridor tile and choose a moveable row or column to place it in (depicted by arrows on the side of the board). They slide the tile into that row or column and it will shift everything in that line and push a tile off the other side of the board. Slide a tile into a row or column to shift all corridors.

He would tear them all to shreds, and he has the power and motivation to do so-the hat was right, he did make a good Slytherin. SeriesHarry Potter AU. Collections: 1 Comments: 51 Kudos: 571 Bookmarks: 122 Hits: 34,855 Simplicity runs throughout Harry Potter Labyrinth and this is reflected in the game’s set up. All that is required to play the game, is the game board, 34 square maze tiles, 24 picture cards and 4 playing pieces. The main set-up is to randomly position 33 of the square maze tiles into the game board, any way you like, creating a random and different maze for the start of each game. 24 of the maze cards contain pictures, matching the 24 picture cards, of the biggest characters from the series. Harry Potter Labyrinth (and the original) is a super simple game to learn how to play. Yet depending on who you’re playing with, there may be more strategizing involved in the game. The strategic choices players can make during the game play and the randomisation of the labyrinth at the start of the game, mean no two games will ever be the same, so the replayability of this game is huge. Throughout the game, players are typically just looking for ways to get to their next character. There isn’t a lot of trying to mess up other player’s paths mainly because no one knows where the other players are trying to get to.

Harry Potter Labyrinth scores well on our “let’s play again” game meter and we know it would score even higher if our kids were younger. With each turn completed, the shape of the labyrinth changes. Players can find their chosen route, may now no longer be available to them, or even the maze tile they were trying to each is no longer on the game board and will have changed position completely, when the next player reinserts it into the game board on their turn! First, they’ll love the secret nature of knowing which character they need to find without anyone else knowing. Then they’ll have to figure out how they can connect corridors so they can move their pawn to that character. Then they’ll have to determine where to place a tile so that shifting a whole row or column of tiles will help them connect corridors they way they need. A moment of desperation and a decision based on unconditional love has placed the power of the Wizarding World in the hands of the Goblin King. A king whose subjects are seen as second class citizens even while they manage the wealth of the wizards. How will this one decision, this one offer, change the Wizarding World and the looming war against Voldemort? Language: English Words: 41,069 Chapters: 31/? But once someone has found all their characters, and it’s very clear where that player wants to get to next, the game steps up a notch with more thoughts towards thwarting that player’s possible routes. Yet, if you’re playing with older players, the game may get a bit more cutthroat (as it does in our family). The game board is a 7 x 7 grid of corridor tiles. 16 of those tiles are permanently placed as part of the game board. The rest are shuffled face down at the start of the game and then placed randomly to fill the rest of the board. One corridor tile will remain off the board. The board has 16 permanent corridor tiles in place. Each game varies in length but usually an entire game would be completed within 30 – 45 minutes, depending on how strategic players are in their game play. aMAZEd? Then the player moves their pawn along connected corridors as far as they wish. Once a player reaches the character on their top character card (it may take several turns), they place the card face up in front of them. Then they secretly look at their next character card to know who they want to find next. Land on your character, reveal it, then find your next one.

In total the game set up takes 5 minutes to complete. Players new to Harry Potter Labyrinth should be able to get started within 10 minutes of opening the box. Article number: The aim of the game is to be the first player to visit all the characters within the labyrinth displayed on their picture cards and then return to their starting square. Sounds easy right!? Not when you consider the labyrinth changes shape! With each player’s turn, your pesky opponents will do their best to make reaching your characters as difficult as possible! The board is fun and unique - it's structured to swing, alternating between the interior of the Hogwarts castle and outdoors, on the grounds. Rolling a passage icon with the die causes the board to flip and transfer to its alternate location. Traveling between the two is risky, as it can cost a clue - but it might also be what it takes to win the game. Collecting four clue cards for a beast makes you the hero and winner of the game.As you can tell, it’s a very simple game to understand and play — which makes it approachable by anyone. Player’s must choose each turn, whether to insert the spare maze tile to their advantage, or to disadvantage of one of their components. This choice can be very difficult! Player’s will not know which of the characters their opponents are trying to reach! Yes, it’s exactly the same game play as the original — but we love Harry Potter, so this is totally the way to go for us. Read on to see if it is for your family too. Find your way through the shifting maze! For many years we’ve heard of a great introductory family board game called, Labyrinth. It was first published in 1986 and has spawned a line of Labyrinth games.
