About this deal

The end result is our quietest, most energy efficient dehumidifier range yet, with a host of special features to make living with Arete a pleasure. It is the case that when a dehumidifier is new to a home that it will run hard to dry the house out for the first few weeks. Once the house (and the material in the house) are dry, then use will settle down and decrease. In fact, it’s such a common question that we have decided to write a whole blog about it! With the current climate, reducing your energy bills is the priority. A lot of the time people will look at their household equipment price at face value, without considering the fact that you could save a lot of money long-term by knowing its cost to run per day. There’s lots to talk about how much it can cost to run a dehumidifier per day. Does a dehumidifier cost a lot to run? Many customers prefer the 20L Low Energy because of its larger airflow and motorised direction louvre combined with the larger water tank. What do you do if you already produce some of the quietest and most energy-efficiency dehumidifiers on the market? With Meaco’s new MeacoDry Arete One, the answer is to go even lower with power consumption and even quieter – and with some higher capacity options, too.

The MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier's Smart Laundry mode also makes it one of the best dehumidifiers for drying clothes that I've tested. I tested it overnight in an unheated, external utility room that’s horribly prone to condensation, and it did a solid job of keeping the drips at bay. If you’re looking for a dehumidifier for a conservatory or garden room, this one should be up to the job for most of the year, although I’d still recommend a desiccant dehumidifier for use in colder areas and colder months. I've been really pleasantly surprised by how quiet the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier is.Especially considering noisy operation is usually one of the biggest downsides of running a compressor dehumidifier.

Arranging a Delivery Date

When you first get a dehumidifier it will run flat out drying out your house, so it may cost more to run initially. Once the house is dry it will only turn on when it’s needed. So your dehumidifier could end up running for several hours some days and then not running for a couple of weeks at all because the house is then dry. That means that the cost to run a dehumidifier will not be the same week-in, week-out. How much does it cost to run a compressor vs desiccant dehumidifier? The water extraction rate will depend on the temperature and relative humidity. At 10ºC and 60% relative humidity, the dehumidifier can remove 3.4 litres per day; at 20ºC and 60%, it can manage 8.5 litres per day. For emptying, the tank simply pulls out the front of the machine so you can pour away the water. Just be careful, though – the tank is quite heavy when full.

We are asked lots of questions on our Live Chat on a daily basis. One of the most common questions is ‘How much does it cost to run a dehumidifier?’ For comparison, Pro Breeze's most energy-effecient comprssor dehumidifier, the Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier, uses 220W to the MeacoDry 12L Arete One's 151W, and costs roughly 6p per hour to run.The Pro Breeze Low Energy dehumidifier also has several other issues that the MeacoDry 12L Arete One does not, as you'll find out in my Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy dehumidifier review. To find out more about compressor dehumidifiers, take a look at our Low Energy Compressor Dehumidifiers ? What makes a cost-effective dehumidifier? On many devices when you select a night mode or a sleep mode they leave a light on to indicate that it is in the mode or they forget to turn off the bleeps so a press of a button is accompanied by an annoying noise. Not as much as you’d think! Our dehumidifiers are designed to be as energy-efficient as possible, and most of the dehumidifiers sold by other brands are efficient too. That means that even the cost of running a dehumidifier continuously might be less than you think.

Many kitchen and electrical appliances are bulky and heavy. Our experienced delivery personnel will take as much care as possible to avoid any damage when bringing items into your property. But please ensure that they have unobstructed access to the place you want your goods left, and that any floor surfaces which might be liable to damage are covered. Larger Items Meaco’s existing 20L MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier produced a maximum 44dB(A) of noise at one metre and consumed roughly 244W. The Arete One is specified to top out at 40dB(A) and consume around 250W, although – as we’ll see later – measured consumption is actually much lower. The big difference between the two is not just that Arete ® looks fantastic, it is that it is a quieter option than the 20L Low Energy and it has a full Night Mode. Finally, you can press and hold the humidity button to activate the fan-only mode, which just runs the humidifier as an air purifier. Performance The advantage of the size, drying power and capacity is that the Arete One can dehumidify larger areas than your average 10-12L dehumidifier. I’ve had it working on an upstairs landing and a large downstairs hallway, and in both cases, it did a solid job of controlling humidity and drying out areas affected by damp or mould, although in these sorts of environments you need to leave it running for longer periods to make an impact. The only quieter dehumidifiers I've come across are Peltier models, like the Pro Breeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier. However, Peltier dehumidifiers are far less powerful than compressor dehumidifiers. For comparison, as I discovered in my Pro Breeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier review, this Peltier model can only extract 0.5L of moisture from the air per day, compared to the MeacoDry Arete One range which can extract 10, 12, 20, or 25L of moisture per day! The MeacoDry Arete One 12L dehumidifier is a great buy for apartments or small to medium-sized houses, and it’s easy to move from room to room thanks to the extendable handle and castors, and compact enough to store easily when not in use.Larger homes, or those with more serious damp issues, may benefit from opting for the MeacoDry Arete One 20 or 25L which offer the same great functionality with an increased extraction capacity. To access the water tank, you just pull the two large handles at the front of the unit. Although a word of warning, the water tank can be heavy when full, so you’ll need a steady hand to walk to the sink as it’s easy to splash the water around. However, you don’t need to fiddle with any lids or covers as I encountered with other dehumidifiers, with the Meaco you just pour the water away via a little outlet at the side of the tank. Overall a really easy experience.
