About this deal

Tadabbur & Tafakkur is to look deeply at the meaning and profound messages behind the verse and to reflect upon it.

Amidst these uses for a journal, there is one that has been rarely talked about: the Quranic journal. What is the Quranic journal? Qari Is'Haaq is also a part-time Imam at the London Islamic Cultural Society and has authored three books: 365 Tips To Help You Memorise and Teach The Qur'an and most recently, My Quran Journal which has just been published just before Ramadan. If your intention is sincerely all three, Insha Allah (if Allah wills), you will benefit and learn from the experience and grow as a Muslim. 2. Remember, this is not a Tafseer During the month of Ramadan, Muslims typically complete the recitation of the whole Quran during tarawihprayers. My Quran Journal allows you to record these moments and connect more deeply with the Quran. It is a system of penning your reflections, appreciation and gratitude. Many of us tend to recite the Quran regularly but how often do we find the time to just truly slow down and reflect upon the words of Allah and what He is telling us? We undertook a Quran Journal survey in the early months of 2022. Within four weeks of pushing out this survey, we received an astonishing 170 responses! One of the questions we had asked within the survey was: ‘Have you ever owned a Quran Journal?’ and 88.2% of the respondents replied with no! Also, we undertook over 15 focus group interviews with a diverse range of audiences. Within these interviews, we had realised that there was so much demand for a Quran Journal. A lot of the participants mentioned how they wanted a book which helped them to connect more deeply with the Quran. Recite. Revise. Reflect. When I started Quran journaling, it opened my eyes to so many secrets of the Quran, unfolded some hidden layers and allowed me to dive deep into understanding the words of my creator. Through this meditative process, I was able to connect it to my personal life and whatever I was going through at the time.

Read and reflect on some verses. Are there any verses that speak louder to you than others? Any that can be applied to your life at this present moment? Highlight it (if you want to be more structured, you could have a color code as per the theme of the Ayah. This will be covered in more depth in a separate post) 3. Select the Ayah For many Muslims today, especially those who have not grown up in a Muslim country, the value of the Quran as the Word of Allah may not be as strongly entrenched. You don't have to write like Shakespeare. All you have to do is honestly look within and ask the relevant questions and record your feelings. You can simply start off the process with, "this verse reminds me of when..." or "this verse makes me think of....". 9. Avoid using names

It is very, very important to point out that your Quranic journal is NOT an official exegesis (Tafseer) of the Quran. It is simply a record of your thoughts at various moments while you read the Quran. Do not be discouraged by others work – this is something personal and everyone has their own unique style. We have a separate post on finding your Quran Journaling Layout style. There is no right or wrong method. What is important is that you keep the right mindset and benefit from this fulfilling and soul-cleansing habit. Why is My Quran Journal important? There are moments in your life where you may recite or listen to some verses of the Quran and within that special moment, it feels as if those verses were exactly what you wanted, or even needed, to hear or recite. If you're the type who loves stationery, invest in a notebook with a nice design and a smooth writing pen. 5. Set aside a specific time to read the Quran
