About this deal

These are minor issues in the grand scheme of things. In fact, the lower high-end frequency, mids, and lows were all balanced in a very pleasing way, and this high-end frequency issue didn’t seem to affect gaming - the sound effects, atmospherics in games such as Tomb Raider, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice and Call of Duty WWII were crisp, detailed and balanced.

At the same time, the buds can feel pretty sparse, especially compared to Razer's more ornate full-size headsets. Frankly, there's not much to set them apart from a good — and potentially more comfortable — set of music earbuds from a major manufacturer. I should start this section off with a disclaimer: Earbuds generally don't fit me well, regardless of what their other merits may be. I've used cheap ones, fancy ones, gaming ones, music ones — it doesn't matter. The sound stage was also very good. The Hammerhead Duo provided an immersive experience in Call of Duty, for example, as we could hear planes fly overhead and into the distance while bombs go off in a completely different direction. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we could hear individual NPC’s pass behind us as we stealthily crept or wandered around them.I didn’t use it much for gaming on my phone since I’m currently only playing Epic 7. But entertainment wise (movies and music) the sound definitely delivered, as I stated above. Verdict We featured the ANC version of the Razer Hammerhead headphones the other week, so this week I tried the Razer Hammerhead Duo Headphones, which is the non-noise cancelling version. The Razer Hammerhead Duo comes with a typical set of features one would expect with high-quality in-ear buds: The tips allow for the use of 3 different sizes of replaceable silicone earbuds so that you can customize the fit to your liking. Not only will these tips help make the headphones sit more comfortably in your ear, but having a nice, tight fit also reduces outside noise. So while they’re not technically noise-cancelling, they can be truly immersive.

Razer’s software platform, with over 60 million users, includes Razer Synapse (an Internet of Things platform), Razer Chroma (a proprietary RGB lighting technology system), and Razer Cortex (a game optimizer and launcher). The Razer Hammerhead Duo takes its name from the custom-tuned dual drivers housed in each earpiece. Dual Driver technology functions by having two audio drivers work in harmony to deliver perfectly balanced sound – with deep bass from the Dynamic Driver and bright, high-frequency details from the Balanced Armature Driver. It's worth noting that Razer is planning a Switch-specific edition of the Hammerhead, which will come out in June. The device has silver Razer logos on the earbuds rather than green ones, comes with a carrying case, and has a mic-mute button rather than volume and play/pause on the inline control panel. However, those features are the only differences. If you really need a pair of earbuds for your Switch right now, there's no reason to wait – unless you play a ton of online multiplayer games. It has pretty decent noise cancellation. If you read my last review on the Hammerhead USB-C ANC, you would know that I’m a frequent traveler by bus. The loud rumbling of the engine is typically the main cause of annoyance but anytime I get the chance to travel with a Hammerhead, it’s always a good time. Though if you’re looking for the ultimate noise canceling headset, I would recommend getting the Hammerhead ANC. Comprised of two earbuds and a control panel for adjusting volume, microphone and play/pause functionality, the small form factor seems really attractive.

Is the Razer Hammerhead Duo good for phone calls?

Compared to single driver headphones, dual drivers allow for more effective sound separation and produce clearer and louder audio that is free from distortion – resulting in a crisper, more precise audio experience whether you are catching up on your favourite TV series or music playlist on the go. SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the Razer Hammerhead Duo, a dual driver in-ear headset delivering clear and powerful audio for all forms of mobile entertainment like music, movies, and games.

Whilst I don’t rate wired headphones personally because I find the cable to be troublesome, I think the Razer Hammerhead Duo Headphones are a mid-budget choice that performs as you’d expect. The dual-driver technology makes a difference in the overall sound profile when compared to single-driver options, but can’t deliver the truly immersive experience of Active Noise Cancelling headphones. With that in mind, I didn't think the Hammerhead Duo was especially comfortable. The buds pressed down hard on the inside of my ears, to the point where my upper jaw ached by the end of my sessions wearing them. Unlike the HyperX Cloud, though, the Hammerhead Duo at least stayed in place and didn't constantly feel like it was about to fall out.Hammerhead Duo primes dual driver technology to become a standard for mobile audio users,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “It delivers a clear and precise audio experience in a comfortable form factor that perfectly meets the demands of daily use no matter where you are.” The aluminium frame and braided cables should ensure it’s more robust than your usual in-ear headset, and it’ll also ship with additional ear-cups if any happen to be lost. Played some Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and I must say; the sound of the waves crashing against the Andrestia as I sailed across Ancient Greek was enough for me to give this headset a thumbs up.
