Three Pines resident, Clara Morrow is celebrating her first solo art show when Lillian is found dead in her garden. Each morning he'd wake early and go into the young day, when the world was new and anything was possible, and he'd see how lovely Montreal was. CC lived, Saul knew, in her own world, where she was perfect, where she could hide her feelings and hide her failings. It begins with the murder of a woman named Cecilia “CC” de Poitiers during the Three Pines annual Christmas curling tournament. It is clear that Olivier is holding onto secrets and not telling the truth and Gamache must determine if the lying is to cover up murder as well. Some of her better-known novels include Still Life which earned her the 2005 New Blood Dagger Award, A Fatal Grace which was the winner of the 2007 Agatha Award, as well as six additional Agatha Christie awards to this day.

A Fatal Grace: (A Chief Inspector Gamache Mystery Book 2

I was constantly trying to work it out in the back of my mind until the grand solution was revealed, an in my opinion this is exactly what good murder mysteries ought to be able to make the reader do.Gamache is battling those that want to destroy him in this book and Jean-Guy has not spoken to him in months. Finally, Louise Penny always takes the opportunity to get her readers a bit better acquainted with Quebec and its people, and myself living in Montreal, Quebec, I can personally confirm the veracity of her portrayals. This was the primary reason I was attracted to reading this novel (in addition to having read and enjoyed the first one as well), and I must say I definitely wasn’t disappointed in regards to the murder mystery itself. Inspector Gamache is investigating a pregnant woman’s disappearance in this one while trying to help get a hold of the catastrophic situation occurring with an overflowing river. CC’s daughter, in turn, killed CC because the girl could no longer bear her mother’s constant abuse.
