About this deal

When frozen, the lollies can be left in the mould and covered with the tight-fitting lid, which is included, until needed. The award winning Annabel Karmel by NUK Ice Lolly Set is perfect for soothing sore gums during teething. Youngsters will love deciding if they want to eat the shark, puffer fish or scuba diver-shaped lolly and the surprise ‘skeleton’ sticks are a thoughtful addition. When selecting your ice lolly moulds, obviously the fun factor is paramount, but we’d recommend checking the size of the mould against your freezer. I didn't even have a stick, so I just used my daughter's old plastic weaning spoons as sticks, and they worked great!

Pots of fromage frais make good lollies - just whip the top off, pop a wooden lolly stick in each one and freeze! Lastly, inside the box are some recipe cards that had easy but interesting flavour suggestions on it, which took our lollies to the next level. These six colourful pops make the perfect-size ice lolly for kids, who apparently loved the idea of eating an umbrella. Strawberries are naturally sweet so you needn’t add refined sugar – taste your puree or yoghurt mix as you go along and if you feel it needs it, just add a little extra honey to sweeten. Moulds are easy to fill, and the lollies are easy to remove, with clear plastic that helps you see when they’re ready to be released. Zoku suggests using the lid included to prevent spills, but we found that juice would seep under the lid instead and spoiled the appearance of our first batch of lollies. The packaging offers up loads of exciting flavour ideas, including chocolate-dipped lollies – a revelation!

Lolly Set - Netmums Reviews NUK Annabel Karmel by Ice Lolly Set - Netmums Reviews

We bought these just before my daughter was ready to wean as it was a madly hot summer and I had been advised to freeze breast milk in the lolly to help combat the heat. Created in conjunction with baby-weaning guru Annabel Karmel, these mini ice lolly moulds are perfect for babies and toddlers from nine months old who don’t need a big popsicle to keep them happy. The best thing about these moulds is that, unlike all the others mentioned here, you can lay them on their side in your freezer and fit them in even the tiniest of spaces, as the lids really are drip-proof. Although it’s a little more expensive than some moulds, and is quite tall (you’ll need to use a big freezer drawer), this mould is a winner.

These ticked all the boxes for our little taste testers: space-themed, colourful, and with room to stick some fresh fruit inside.

There’s no mention of where to get the correct-size lolly sticks when the 16 have been used, and the block and moulds are handwash only. Depending on the age of your little ones, you can fill them with a mixture of fruit, yoghurt, breast or coconut milk and even vegetable puree or juice. Flat handles with rubber grips mean the four lollies you can make in this mould are a lot easier to handle than some of those made in other moulds, and the lollies themselves are a classic rounded shape that’s simple to eat.

Depending on the ingredients, your lollies will take about 6-8 hours to freeze so leaving them to the last minute is not an option. The handles are easy to hold for little ones, the portion size was perfect for young children and the mess created was tolerable. However, while the mould itself is small enough to fit into a large freezer drawer, it does take up quite a bit of freezer space for such small lollies. Alcohol has a higher freezing point than fruit juices and yogurts, so stick to the measurements in the recipe. Pick one or two strawberries that fit inside a heart or plain round small lolly mould, then hull and slice them into thin cross sections.

While the ice lollies in the tray takes up quite a bit of space in the freezer – and they are tall too – once frozen you can pop out each ice lolly individually from the tray, and this means you can jam them in much smaller spaces in your freezer. They feature easy-hold handles perfect for little hands (and especially good for younger babies who are teething), and a handy drip collector which reduces mess. Moulds that came in boxes suitable for storage, could be stacked or individually removed, or fit into an icebox got bonus points. The mould is sturdy and easy to fill, and the handles come in bright, shiny colours that appeal to children. If you're looking to add a dash of something a little stronger to your ice pops, keep in mind that an overly boozy mix will result in a slushy lolly that won't hold its form. They are all so simple they can be whipped up in ten minutes or under and are bound to keep kids cool and happy this summer.
