About this deal

A self-confessed “feral kid who was raised in libraries”, Author of the Month Neil Gaiman, spent much of his childhood devouring the books of J.

Gaiman started writing Coraline in 1990, and it was published in 2002 by Bloomsbury and HarperCollins. Coraline is often irritated by rain, crazy grown-ups (as they all seem to be), and not being taken seriously because of her young age. He is defiant of the Other Mother, but seems to tremble at the thought of being stuck in the Other World forever. Coraline Jones – The young heroine and self proclaimed explorer, she is young, clever, curious, resourceful, and brave. The novel Coraline is incredibly different from the movie, and I honestly thought it was much creepier. It is very sarcastic towards Coraline and defiant of the Other Mother, but seems to tremble at the thought of being stuck in the Other Mother's world. Craig Russell brings Neil Gaiman's enchanting nationally bestselling children's book Coraline to new life in this gorgeously illustrated graphic novel adaptation. While the writing style is descriptive and child-like in nature, the tone of the novel is calm and curious.

Just like appearances in a mirror are slightly different from the original, the parallel universe is also skewed in several ways. There are several times when Coraline is faced with frightening circumstances, but she steels herself to fight through it all. However even though he is supposed to be one of the Other Mother's minions, he turns out not to be evil and is actually very friendly and timid. The buttons are also representative of the loss of virtue and morality, as Coraline is expected to sew on the button eyes onto her own face by the Other Mother. I have to recommend picking this up if you're a fan of Coraline, or even if you've never heard of the book before and want something that will add a bit of adventure to your bookshelf.

I wasn't sure what it would be like, and if it would ruin the way I feel the characters look when I read the original Coraline, but if anything, I believe that it only enhanced the way I saw everything in the book when I read it. Not for the faint hearted, this is a fascinating and chilling story exquisitely told in words and pictures. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. But there's another mother there, and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl.

They were trapped by the Beldam at different times before Coraline, and reside in the dark space behind the mirror.
