About this deal

But, it likely went through a bit of cleanup for this new print because it sounds a bit louder overall and LFEs seem to be even more effective in the subwoofer range. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. I also happen to love the Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard scores, especially for The Dark Knight with The Joker’s theme, which has a frantic, crazed quality that drives the tension; and the music definitely gets room to expand across the front channels and overhead.

Dialogue remains firmly prioritised across the frontal array, delivered with clarity throughout, which has arguably been an increasingly rare beast in later Nolan efforts, however it's the effects and score that really stand out here.

I absolutely loved Christopher Nolan’s portrait of Batman and thought that Christian Bale nailed it. I also found the final showdown between Bane and Batman to be anticlimactic, and disappointing, which wasn’t helped by the rather conventional plot twist that I saw coming. Batman Begins kick-starts the Dark Knight Trilogy on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with a flawed but still largely satisfying HEVC / H. You can definitely see all the fine lines and wear on Bale’s face, the texture in fabrics, the construction of his vehicles, and both the grit and polish of Gotham. I don't like to double-dip but I like the first two movies in the series a lot so I think that your review has given me the excuse that I need!

The triple-layered UHD100 disc sits comfortably opposite a Region Free, BD50 copy and a third BD25 disc containing supplements. In the wake of his parents’ murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. All three films were originally filmed in 35mm but have been remastered for their UltraHD release, and these new transfers are taken from true 4K digital intermediates. The audio track, on the other hand, is almost impossible to fault, and with a strong selection of extras, this is the definitive release for the definitive Batman franchise. There are also 45 minutes' worth of faux newscasts from Gotham Tonight, and the second disc is rounded off by a hefty stills gallery and set of Trailers.

Dark Knight Trilogy - Cineluxe Review: The Dark Knight Trilogy - Cineluxe

While I used my best critical eye to drink in what was, presumably, a well-calibrated Sony OLED TV, these are just quick preview thoughts I hope will interest fans. I found the script to be slightly uneven and overlong as it dealt with Bruce’s excursion to the pit while he sorted out the true meaning of life, death and that conquering fear alone wasn’t enough if he was going to rise from the remains left of him by the indomitable Bane. What is clear from this new native 4K scan is that it largely sorts out the multitude of flaws associated with the now decade-old standard Blu-ray release, cleaning up the image, balancing the contrast and removing any signs of black crush or banding. Overall we’re really impressed with The Dark Knight Trilogy 4K UHD Blu-Ray Box Set and that shows in our overall score of 8.
