About this deal

It was however a very popular bar indeed, with a wonderfully flat and smooth appearance, hiding crunchy peanuts beneath the top layer. These highly-charged treats will blow your socks off with explosive flavour, dynamite texture, and minefield of flavours. As usual, Grenade ticks all the boxes in terms of texture BUT it is interesting that this bar more closely resembles some of the brand’s ‘older’ flavours ( White Chocolate Cookie, Jaffa Quake, Caramel Chaos) rather than the softer, fluffier texture of the ‘newer’ bars ( Strawberry Ice Cream, Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel, White Chocolate Peanut). It’s higher in calories than previous bars at 242 per 60g bar, and I notice that Grenade have dropped the ‘impact carbs’ boast off the labelling.

And if you have any doubt as to the quality of these tasty treats, you will be glad to know that they are Informed-Sport approved and credited. Every sip is like an adrenaline rush for your nutritional goals, loading up your system with essential macronutrients. of protein more than both the Aldi protein bars and most of the Grenade 'Carb Killa' bar range, the most popular protein bar brand in the UK. We're big fans of protein bars and often use them as a great way to get our amino acids in straight after a good workout. What’s more, it manages to maintain Grenade’s usual, pretty solid macros – 21g protein, 20g carbs, 10g fat and just 1g of sugar, all for 233 kcal. The peanut flavour is similar to the Peanut Nutter bar (surprise surprise) and it’s not overpowering nor that strong at all really. In other words there’s not much difference in calories compared to a regular chocolate bar, in fact they’re almost identical in calories.

Above all, Grenade bottled protein shakes allow you to conveniently increase your protein intake for the day, no goal is too big. The centre is soft, fudgey and slightly chewy, just like the previous two bars but this time with a nice chocolate flavour. It’s a complete contrast to the likes of Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel or Dark Chocolate Raspberry, but it’s a bit of FUN. In this post I will review all the flavours I’ve tried so far, and I’ll update it as and when I try the new additions!

Grenade High Protein, Low Sugar Bar - Cookies and Cream, 12 x

The chocolate is rich, but it strikes just the right balance so as to not detract from the real star – the salted caramel. The flavour that Ben and Jerry made famous and in doing so launched a whole sub-genre of hybrid flavours to our tables. In a world where low-carb diets reign supreme, finding sweet, satisfying and authentic-tasting snacks can prove tricky.

But I will say that the centre on this bar seems softer than usual, more similar to that of the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough I’ve reviewed before. The taste of a kids birthday cake has been captured to perfection, just like a sponge with white frosting. This one was jostling for position at the start as the potential favourite… and it did not disappoint. When we tried the protein bars from Aldi we thought we'd reached peak protein bar, but then Lidl came along and showed them how it's done.
