About this deal

Now that the flavored vodka boom is clearly ending, vodka companies are scrambling to figure out ways to hold on to their growth and remain relevant in a marketplace that is increasingly shifting towards whiskey. The midpalate is a continuation of many of the flavors introduced in the opening, with raisin and dried apricot most pronounced. To create GREY GOOSE vodka, François Thibault maintains an unrivalled level of craftsmanship, using only the very finest ingredients. The rich, subtle taste of Grey Goose VX is described as bringing a harmonious balance of white fruit blossom, honeysuckle and violet with hints of apricot and a long, lingering finish.

The entry for Grey Goose VX follows the nose pretty closely with cognac flavors of raisin, milk chocolate, shortbread cookie, iris, dried apricot, and white grape. Part of this sharp decline is attributed to Grey Goose’s decision to not chase the flavor trend too hard, but a more significant factor was unexpected competition from non-premium brands like Tito’s Vodka and Deep Eddy’s Vodka, which took significant share away from premium players like Grey Goose. Grey Goose VX is packaged in a bottle that very much looks like a fusion of the classic Grey Goose Vodka bottle with the traditional bottles often used for XO Cognac (very similar to Chateau de Montifaud Cognac). She had always talked about treating herself one day as she had been given a Grey Goose VX glass some years ago.

This is an ultra premium expression from Grey Goose Vodka, but this time it’s got the added twist of having ‘precious drops of cognac’ combined. The integration and balance, while preserving the core Grey Goose character, is masterfully done and light years beyond Twenty Grand, one of the other vodka/cognac blends on the market. The Grey Goose VX bottle does disclose that it’s a blend of 95% Vodka and 5% Cognac, the same ratio that’s common with spirit whiskey.

Bacardi’s Grey Goose is one of those brands that’s really trying to navigate these changing vodka waters. The finish for Grey Goose VX is the most vodka-like part of the taste experience and most representative of the traditional Grey Goose Vodka, with light wheat notes tapering to a dry finish. the nose is clearly different from the base Grey Goose Vodka, with soft cognac notes including honey, raisin, milk chocolate, and shortbread cookie. Thibault, spent a good deal of his career perfecting the art of manufacturing cognac, before deciding to create premium vodka. Using only the highest quality of ingredients, A truly unique spirit which is best enjoyed on the rocks so that the full and complex flavour can be fully appreciated.

It was created by Maître de Chais François Thibault as a synthesis of his manufacturing career, resulting in an impeccable blend of 95% vodka with a 5% cognac finish. If you want a drink for those cold winter nights this is the one especially as it has a hint of Cognac in it.After the wheat grain is fermented and distilled into a high-proof spirit, it travels south to Gensac-La-Pallue, in the Cognac, Arrondissement(Region), France, where it is blended with the remarkably pristine spring water found there.
