About this deal

Splitters with more outputs are primarily for business and commercial use, where one source needs to be sent to multiple TVs or projectors. For example, if you have the Standard Netflix membership, you can only watch up to two streams at once. The QU-14S Distribution Amplifier (splitter) accepts one HDMI input and splits this signal to four identical outputs.

Plus, it’s a bit more expensive than some of the other splitters – but you get more for your money in this case.If you are looking for a high-quality splitter you should look out for advanced features such as support for 3D video and 4K resolution. It is also fully HDCP (an anti piracy protocol) compatible so there shouldn’t be any issues using it. It supports 4K at 30Hz, which is good for most uses, except for 4K gaming – so it’s not a good fit for the PS4 Pro, PS5, and other 4K gaming consoles.

Make sure that your HDMI switcher is compatible if you are routing the output of the switcher through a home theater receiver that provides decoding for advanced audio formats, such as Dolby TrueHD, Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS:X.It could be one TV in the living room and another one in the bedroom, or maybe you have a small one in the kitchen, or a 4K projector somewhere along with a regular TV… you get the point. The bright racing red box is very specific and we can’t think of a single-use case where this would fit in with any existing AV equipment.

Some HDMI Splitters are powered by a regular power cable that goes into a wall outlet, and some are powered by a USB cable which gives you more flexibility. Like most other media and data cables, the video signal on HDMI cables degrades over long distances. So a switcher lets you switch between different HDMI signals, while a splitter lets you split one HDMI signal out to several screens. However, with multiple screens comes the problem of using your media devices – such as streaming devices, gaming consoles, DVD players, etc. That’s where an HDMI splitter comes in – it’s a small box that lets you plug in one “Input” device – that’s your streamer/ DVD Player/etc.Again it’s steel construction and slim form factor means it should survive wherever you choose to tuck it away. It is cascaded (8x levels), meaning - it has the ability to further signal splitting from the outputs, if required.

Some HDMI splitters also feature advanced features such as 4K video support, 1080p HDTVs and Ethernet connectivity.Due to its smaller size this splitter is only able to transmit a signal to two other displays which some may find a little lackluster. Our reviewer tested it for weeks and thought the 4K content she streamed on her PC looked great, with the HDR coloring making the videos pop. As ever we have tried to cover all budgets – not everybody has an endless supply of cash to spend on peripherals, so read our recommendations carefully before you decide which is the right HDMI Splitter for you.
