About this deal

As she is often so fixated on her womb and the "female energy" that comes out of it, I have thought many times that she excludes trans women by doing so.

Homebody by Joanna Gaines | Waterstones

Like her other work, these poems deal with topics such as anxiety, dissociation, depression, lack of self worth, abuse, and reminders to be gentle with oneself and that there is hope for healing. She sees hospitality as meeting the needs of your own family as well as guests, making your house or apartment or wherever you live feel like a sanctuary from all of life’s business and stresses. It is a collaborative effort with our own design aesthetic and filled with all the things we have collected over the years that reflects our family. Mostly Joanna wants to inspire her readers to create a cozy home in their own style, and there are some short and sweet introductory words to each type of room.I did a lot of flipping back and forth, but other readers may not be as inquisitive as I am as to which house is depicted in each photo. I was hoping for different pops of color on the kitchen backsplash, on the walls, in all sorts of places in various rooms.

Kaur also takes early inroads into eco-poetry; and it is some of her best work, like the poem on page 101. All in all "Homebody" is a book you can quickly breeze through to see perspectives through Rupi's life. She feels most at home when creating art, performing her poetry onstage, and spending time with family and friends. The book is organized by room, and the photos feature about 10 different homes that are a mix of a variety of styles. People had so many good things to say about Rupi’s other books, I thought I would give this one a read.If you love Joanna you will love this book but if you are looking for inspiration that captures a certain style without looking like Joanna Gaines designed it you should probably pass. Yes, there were modern elements in the modern home, but the color palette was the same, the decor touches were the same. I enjoyed reading about the motivation behind her decorating tricks, and it was fun to see some rooms I recognized from her show. That being said, there were a few relatable poems that I screenshotted and I really respect Rupi’s vulnerability. For example, the poem “there are miracles in me / waiting to happen / i am never giving up on myself” poses the self as divine and also mysterious, consisting of unexplored portals.
