A Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds for this project was launched, but failed to meet its goal by September 24, 2021 and the whole thing was canceled. A collaboration between Hasbro and statue/replica brand Jazware, The Transformers was added as a part of the Zōteki line alongside other iconic brands such as Marvel, to recreate some of the main "Generation 1" characters.

Their presence, combined with an explosion, Shockwave's reactor and Predacon CNA, resulted in the creation of a large amount of cyber-matter. After Devastator had devastated Mayalx, the Insecticons devoured the scrap metal left behind and metabolized a large bounty of energon cubes for the Rise. The Japanese instructions have a note telling you the best way to use this feature: lay Soundwave flat on his back, and the tapes will have a better chance of being aligned correctly. Soundwave spent the rest of the 1970s recruiting more human pawns to prevent the Ark from being rediscovered.

Laserbeak was first released to Asian markets with entirely English Generations packaging, but later was released also in North America in Generations packaging that was in both English and Chinese to lampshade the toy's origin.

The instructions also neglect to tell you that the sensor can be plugged into the back of Soundwave's waist when it's not on his arm. Artwork of all the accessories printed inside the box suggests the cubes were intended to come with 5 mm/3 mm double post handles, but the final release features 3 mm holes. The set was originally intended to be part of their Commemorative Series of Generation 1 reissues, but when that line was cancelled, it was instead released as part of the Classics toyline. The phrase "Commemorative Edition" is prominently displayed on the front and sides of the box, though, and it remains exclusive to Toys"R"Us, as all Commemorative Edition toys were.Even more oddly, the Soundwave shown on the cross-sell is the Hasbro-release Soundwave with the maroon-purple and aqua-blue robot parts. When they got there and began the assault, Soundwave was snootily dismissive of the Autobots' combat banter. With the release of a new tooling of Convoy in 2011, the line was rebooted, featuring a smaller, more consistent scale based on MP-09 Rodimus Convoy, and a significant increase in releases per year. Frenzy is a slightly purplish blue with silver details on his chest, groin and knees, and yellow sculpted sections on his shins that used to be stickers; Rumble is red and black, with gold detailing where Frenzy had silver, and light blue on his legs. The liquid energon within energon cubes is a glowing pink color, although the cubes could also be compressed for easy storage and transport, causing them to take on an iridescent rainbow effect.
