About this deal

But as their relationship grows more heated and she learns more about the world he moves in, she finds herself unsure if she’s falling for the man known as James or the monster known as Hook. I am glad the story circled back to help bring a conclusion, but it just seemed so odd to leave a story half finished and wait till the end to really bring everything together.

Never After Novel: 1 Hooked: A Dark, Contemporary Romance: A Never After Novel: 1

CROSSED is a dark, contemporary romance (not fantasy or a literal retelling) and the fifth complete standalone in the Never After series, fractured fairy tale reimagining of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Written by bestselling author Emily McIntire, this series takes classic tales and gives villains happy endings in dark, contemporary romance novels. Though not fantasy romance or retellings, if you love fractured fairy tales, then you’ll want to check out the Never After series! He’s an undercover DEA agent, and he’s hell-bent on destroying the drug trade that devastated his family. Like if Filomena spends a few years in the real world and grows up a bit and Jack stays in Never After will he still be 12 and she’s 18?

Never After Series by Emily McIntire - Goodreads

Even though this series may be written in a simpler vocabulary that is almost too simple for older readers, it has a wonderful amount of action and adventure that even the oldest of us can enjoy. When he realizes the youngest daughter of the Westerly empire is the same woman he’s been fantasizing about since that night at the club, attraction wars violently with disgust. Filomena forges new friendships, confronts her bullies, and learns the truth about where she came from and who she really is. Rich and strange (and kitted out with an eye-catching cover), but stronger in the set pieces than the internal logic. Even with the League of the Seven’s help, can Filomena and her friends rescue the land from Olga’s clutches?the quests they go on are fun and scary, and it’s neat to see how the fairytales are going to be twisted. Gradually—too gradually, as the author strings out hundreds of pages of Hogwarts-style pranks, classroom mishaps and competitions both academic and romantic—it becomes clear that the placement wasn’t a mistake at all. They haven’t defeated the Queen Olga by the end of this book so there will definitely be another book.
