I haven't read any of them yet, but the words are superfluous, as it's the pictures that make the book.It makes me want to go on an African Safari, although I'm unclear if this type of thing upsets their natural habitats, in which case they should cease.

It contains eight remarkable photicular pages, each of an animal one might encounter while on a safari on the Masai Mari in Kenya. Imagine a field guide to all the animals you'd encounter on an African safari, but instead of looking at a photograph of them in the book you're reading, you're actually seeing a small film clip on the page of the animal in motion. Each photo is accompanied with a factual (paragraph-style written) account of each animal: their habitat, typical day-in-the-life and so forth. But it’s not just in the movement itself that made these books cool, it was that it moves along with your actions (of turning the page). It's a "Photicular Book"– a lenticular-based technology that transfers fluid 4-colour movies onto a book page.I remember a design in CSS Zen Garden many years ago that did something simillar using an image with a gradient if I remember right to turn on a deep sea diver’s torch as you scrolled down the page. Audience: This book would have a wide appeal because even toddlers would enjoy looking at the images, but the text and information would be good for elementary students. Now take your target images, slice them in 1-unit-wide vertical strips, and keep every fifth of these strips… then make a combined image by taking a strip of each of the five images in turn. Not only would I recommend these as a gift, I would suggest having them be delivered to you first so you can enjoy them before you give them away! I’m also reminded of one of my own favorite childhood books, Dinnertime, where different animals pop out at you as you turn the pages.
