About this deal

It’s an after drink liqueur and is often served as a freebie in small glasses (Chupitos) at the end of a meal. It’s packed with all the news, latest articles, upcoming events, photos and a video which we shoot fresh from somewhere on the island. In 2005 the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands created a specific Geographical Denomination for the honey rum under the name "Ronmiel de Canarias". La Indiana Honey Rum is an authentic rum from The Canary Islands made from a delicious blend of rum and honey.

Ron Miel Honey Rum is a unique speciality of both the Canary Islands and its oldest distillery, Arehucas. You’ll find many cheap, non-DO versions here, where the ingredients are not local and some or a lot of the expensive honey is replaced by sugar. However, due to the one-sided taste profile, you will get bored of the taste quickly and a couple of servings is the maximum you do at once. The taste of honey, at least what I am used to have here in the North, is not so strongly displayed.

We find it best to enjoy it poured neat over ice but can also be drank with cola or poured over ice cream! There is a DO (Denominacion Origen) for honey rum in the EU, and any bottle bearing the DO legend must be made from both Canarian honey and Canarian rum. The distillery uses sugar cane grown in the Canary Islands for production and makes the whole process itself. It is known as honey rum because the final product incorporates an amount of at least 2% honey of the total volume. Seven year old rum is blended with natural honey from the surrounding islands to create an exquisite natural flavour combination.
