About this deal

It has strong cross curricular links with writing and History, as well as PSHE and philosophy for children. Take suggestions from groups before revealing details from the teacher's notes from the folder in turn.

I just looked at the ratings distribution and I see I’m in the minority in giving this book only 3 stars. Move on to show the illustration of the Jewish boy attempting to escape from arrest and deportation. The illustrations add a lot to the book and demonstrate the brutal impacts which war can have on people. The story said that, “Since I had a piece of bread, I carefully handed it through the pointed wires.Rose follows a truck to a desolate place out of town, where she discovers many children staring hungrily from behind an electric barbed wire fence. This is a short and heartbreaking book about a girl named Rose living in a small German town in the midst of World War II. Display and distribute copies of Resource B (see attached file below) (a timeline briefly describing events in Eastern Europe between 1941 and 1945) to small groups.

At the top of a hill just before you descend into the communities there is a small parking area with Welcome signs and a vista of the towns. But this also makes Rose Blanche a story that should not willy-nilly be given to a child to read on their own, it is way too graphic for younger picture book readers. Reveal a notice by number one on the number line saying "I would not help", by number five "I might help" and by number ten "I would help". This would be a clear and interesting way to introduce a highly significant point in time to the children of today. The story Rose Blanche is a story that took place in World War 2, when the Germans took millions of Jews to concentration camps and killed them there.
