About this deal

And even if I tried sharp turns, change in pace, takeoffs and looked for places where the surface was soft, I just kept a solid grip! The tongue protrudes rather high and at the same time the heel cap goes up and forms a small "tail" around the Achilles tendon which provides a feeling of extra support without being like wearing a boot. I am a UK 10 and normally some sport shoes are tight around the forefoot but Solomon has made these quite wide and are perfect for my fat feet so a great fit so far. This being said, running down or up grass slopes where there is some thing for the grips to bite into I couldn’t fault the shoe. The mesh upper will keep your feet cool and comfy, while the midsole cushions and stabilises every step. As it is designed to be an allround-shoe for the beginner, I didn´t think that it would suit me very well.Huge thanks to Bryan for his continued support and his wonderful review of these awesome looking trail shoes. Choose from a range of shoes for hikes to winter holidays with our selection of trail running shoes, walking shoes and ski boots. Salomon provides some of the best trail running shoes on the market, not least the Alphacross, which you can find in our Salomon Alphacross running shoes range.

And combined with a great fit and the soft midsole, it makes for a surprisingly good running sensation! Salomon Alphacross 3 is a somewhat lighter shoe than Speedcross (weighing 280g), which is also very evident. If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page. It provides a sock-like sensation which I really enjoy but there is also plenty of room in the forefoot. At the same time you´ll get a unique selection from our universe of inspiration where we present running guides and tests of products. The soft Contagrip rubber which Salomon have used for this outsole is soft enough not to create any discomfort for running or walking on slightly harder surfaces but at the same time it is strong and hard enough to really grap the surface in the woods when its needed - to gain extra speed. Salomon running shoes are renowned for their support and grip, ensuring you can reach your running goals across any surface and in all weather conditions. This prevents the shoe from being a real racer, as speed is reduced in the sharp turns so you can´t quite use your momentum to slide on downhill runs. While doing my runs I felt that the grip of the sole can only be described as “Oily” on the wet rocks and tree roots.

When I had enjoyed a couple of good runs in the Alphacross 3 which had confirmed that it really excels in what it has been designed for, I decided to test it a little further with running on mixed surfaces - both on slightly harder trail but also in the woods where the surface can be really tricky and suddenly go very soft. However, if you (like me) are satisfied with the fit but you don´t want all kinds of dirt in your shoe during trail running, a universal gaiter can easily be used. Even if its a shoe for beginners, I would consider using it myself as it would be very well suited for trail runs where you aren´t going to take part in competitions in the most challenging terrain. After 6 weeks of doing the Salomon Alphacross Review I still love Solomon running shoes and would be my first pick for trail running shoe.
