And once you stop caring about a book's central character, you usually stop caring about the book itself.The book was too long, going into the backstory of each and every character, the police detective, the manager of the strip joint, the barmaid, the victim's father, the bouncer/ Ray's boss. Even the cast have said the bombshell leaves the door open for a Stay Close 2, with Richard Armitage who plays Ray saying he'd love to see a second season. Take the airport spur road to the end (Junction 4a) and continue straight through the tunnel to the first set of lights, then follow signs for Terminal 3 Departures.

There are giant leaps of logic during the investigation so that the detective, Broome, can tie everything together quickly and move the story along. I’ll admit that this was a little less domestic than I’d anticipated and the context threw me a little initially. Stay Close is a rarity among the TV adaptations of Harlan Coben novels in that it features a female protagonist.

I even turned back to the first few pages to see if it was an earlier effort of his, but no, I am sorry to say, he wrote this book after all those other wonderful novels he is known for.

The author, who signed a multi-year pact with Netflix, also had his stories The Woods, The Innocent, The Stranger and Gone For Good turned into miniseries. But the big twist came at the end, when it was discovered that nightclub boss Lorraine (Sarah Parish) was actually the one responsible for Stewart's death - and indeed for the death of all the men who had been at the club.
