Perhaps one of the most frustrating and confusing bottles for collectors is the black label version of the Master Distiller bottle, most commonly found in Asia. The Jacks Daniel's motto was a good one, since the American government created the Bottle-in-Bond label a few years later, in 1897.

As you might have gathered from the name, Jack Daniel's Bonded is a Bottled-in-Bond whiskey from Jack Daniel’s. This is still closer to a barely legal rye rather than a 95% rye like Bulleit, so you will find a few more bourbon notes than you might expect. The nose is fantastic, the mouthfeel is excellent, and the finish provides just enough spice to tie it all together.It aimed at establishing criteria to control the quality of whiskeys produced in the United States : the harvest had to take place in the same year, the production had to be done in a single distillery, the whiskey has to be aged exclusively in new American white oak barrels and for a minimum period of 4 years. While many Jack Daniel’s expressions can feel very sweet and dessert like, this falls closer to the savory end of the spectrum. And Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond whiskey is a tribute to the man who believed in quality from the very beginning. Barrels were hand selected for their unique and particular characteristics of deeper color, flavor, and aroma, which bring a darker, richer, and more oak-forward character to Jack Daniel’s Bonded.
