I have the covers aswell - I swapped out the LW switches with some basic MK ones and the cover goes on top with a Hue remote magnetically on top - so you can leave the remote on it or take off For 2-way or multiway switching, we would ALWAYS recommend wiring as "1 way" and programming the other dimmers in different locations of the house to perform switching wirelessly - so no 3 core wiring needs to be attached between the dimmers. We always recommend wiring as one way due to the fact that 1 wired dimmer minimum load is 10W,if you have another dimmer controlling the same light using 3 core then the minimum load will be increased to 20w. Automations provide a host of clever features, including timers, group actions, triggers and wireless two-way switching.Installation of the smart switch is a DIY job, but it’s once you’ve connected your switch to the Lightwave app that the real fun begins. Having a metal faceplate adds a premium feel and, though I thought this might annoy me at first, I actually like having the LED status light. The LED colour and brightness can be customized in the Lightwave app, though it can't be turned off completely, unfortunately. Currently, there are no accessories for Generation 2 switches. Generation 1 had scene controllers to set pre-defined lighting moods, and dedicated remote controls. Philips Hue arguably offers greater choice for lighting options, but the downside is that its accessories and switches don’t look as good. If you want a high-end installation and are happy controlling normal lights, Lightwave Generation 2 is a great system.
At the second switch move all wires fitted to L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to C to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. What if I have more than two switches in the circuit? Wired (230V) Lightwave smart switches can be used as a retrofit solution to replace existing switches or dimmers. Smart switches work in a similar way to traditional dimmer switches and can be used to dim various types of lights including LED lamps and integrated LED downlights. Smart Series has considerably more functionality than Connect (formally known as Gen1) each smart switch can be programmed to dim either as a master or as a slave. This provides 2 way switching or dimming. Instead of needing a slave dimmer, can do 2 way or even 3 way dimming which means you can dim the same lighting circuit from 2 or more switches (or locations from the room).The Lightwave Generation 1 switches looked super-attractive, and the Generation 2 Smart Dimmers maintain the same quality build. Finished in brushed steel, the switches look every bit like high-end designer models. The only slight disappointment is that, currently, this is the only finish available. The previous generation offered a range of options.
From the app, you can automate your devices, choosing when they should come on or off. There are Dawn and Dusk options, or you can set a specific time if you prefer. Generation 1 devices appear in the app, but their state can’t be read. Instead, it displays the last setting you used through the app – although this could be wrong. For example, the app showed that my Lounge light was set to 49% when it had been manually turned off using its physical buttons.
