I changed the rating to 4.75 from a 4.5. Here’s the thing—this had all of the makings of a 5 star book EXCEPT for the fact that I found the beginning quite slow. And I fully get that its slow burn, its meant to be that way, but I can’t ignore how i felt when I was still in the beginning stages. RHYS was the reason this book wasn't rated lower and the reason for me to believe that Ana Huang has potential after all, just how Alex was the reason I hated the first book. Rhys was just so much better than Alex, even though he had his red flags (I talked about that in the updates). I'm not a fan of his relationship with Bridget, especially the portion of the story while they weren't romantically involved and he was just her bodyguard. He was jelaous and stupid??, bossing her around, telling her "everything he does is for her best" and using that as an excuse to be an absolute asshole. He forgot his place so many times that I had to remind myself he was her bodyguard. Changing that portion of the story, seeing his submissive side would make this story better BY A DEGREE (once again, argue with the wall). However, seeing Rhys's character development gave me peace and comfort, I loved his banter with Andreas and hints of a relationship with Nikolai. After a heated confrontation, Josh suggests a solution to get Jules out of his mind: they can become “enemies with benefits.” They agree to a causal relationship with specific rules. They won’t get jealous, there won’t be any emotional attachment, and most importantly, they won’t fall in love. Twisted Hate was alright. I feel like the story dragged, and I was losing interest easily. However, I love the love of Josh and Jules to show each other. Whereas with Twisted Love and Games where I couldn't put the book down, Twisted Hate at certain points dragged, and I had to put the book down to get the story. bridget has no dignity lmao she’s basically rhys’ dog and it’s funny seeing her give herself up for him. mans literally made her crawl 😭

But that momentum came crashing down because Ana Huang didn't know how to keep building it up. This book does justice to the grumpy x sunshine trope along with the forced proximity trope. The mystery aspect of the book made the plot very interesting and kept readers rooting for this couple. reading this after joshjules was a mistake and tbh even alexava had a better story/chemistry than bridgetrhys 💀 i felt nothing for them and between them. I enjoyed and appreciated ava and alex's story way more. i hated alex in his own book but LOVED him in this one.
